The Client
Royal Rehab specialises in brain and spinal cord injury rehabilitation and is recognised as Australia’s leading provider of rehabilitation and disability services. Working with a team of multi-disciplinary team of healthcare professionals, this not-for profit organisation supports people to achieve maximum independence and quality of life.
The Project
Royal Rehab’s Marketing Specialist Vanessa Gasiewski was searching for a charity copywriter with extensive health experience to copy edit the Health Maintenance Tool, a 170-page handbook for people recovering from brain and spinal cord injuries. Incorporating five modules, the handbook had to meet government standards and be checked for:
- Consistency
- Readability
- Punctuation
- Grammar
- Spelling
- Flow
It was also crucial to ensure the content was user friendly and didn’t include technical jargon or complex language. Long sentences needed to be condensed and difficult words replaced.
The Result
Through a highly collaborative process, I edited the Health Maintenance Tool’s 170 pages ensuring a consistent tone of voice which was suitable for its target audience. As a result, the content is uniform, easy to read and can be picked up by anyone who struggles with brain or spinal cord injury.
“Claudia was engaged to edit and proofread the 170-page Health Maintenance Tool which had to meet government standards.
We found her work to be efficient, well edited and she provided copy that added value and flow to the document.
Claudia was a great asset to have working on this tool.”
